Restoration Process
First, each gown is thoroughly inspected for stains and spots.  Shoulder pads and bust forms are removed and garment hooks and snaps are closed to avoid damage to the gown.

The most suitable cleaning process is chosen.  All processes are safe.  Gowns are hand cleaned and inspected at each step of our cleaning process.

Necklines, hemlines and trim are thoroughly evaluated and treated.  Special, environmentally safe formulas are used to treat and remove sugars, salts, oils, mud, grass stains and blood.

These stains do not dissolve through an ordinary dry cleaning process and may not be visible to the eye for years. Over time, these stains would turn discolor and destroy the fabric, lace, beading or embroidery.

Preservation Process
After cleaning, gowns are hand pressed and positioned over a bust form.  Sleeves are filled.  With acid-free tissue, the gown is fitted into an acid-free, archival-quality ph balanced breathable preservation chest.

The gown is seen through the viewing window of the chest.  Veils, headpieces, garters, gloves, slips and other keepsakes can be included in your preservation chest. The gown is then sealed in non-yellowing, non plastic film. After sealing, the chest is placed in a long term, durable storage chest with a viewing panel. The packaging protects the gown from moisture, humidity, oxidation, dust, insects, light, pollutants and handling. These environmental hazards would cause the gown to yellow and age.
